Frequently Asked Questions

  • I can play or learn just about any song, genre, or artist, although, there are certainly some styles that work better on the harp!

Check out my setlist section for a more detailed breakdown of some music I play regularly often!

I can also take any requests with your booking info and have your musical selections prepared in advance for your event.

  • Getting started is simple. Reach out through my contact form or email. I’ll walk you through the next steps and we’ll sort out the details.

  • While the harp itself is quite a unique instrument that isn’t seen up-close very often, there are a few things that set me apart as a musician.

I can play many styles, genres, and artists that are not typically associated with the harp, from 60’s classics, to modern Pop and R&B.

Additionally, I play just about all of my music from memory and I am able to memorize very easily, meaning I can perform without a music stand; effectively, removing another physical barrier between the harp and the audience.

  • I typically arrive at least 20-30 minutes prior to the music start time, as the harp takes time to be unpacked and must be tuned each time it is moved.

The harp used is a Lyon & Healy Style 30, which is about 6'2 tall and weighs about 81 pounds.
When setup, it takes about 3ft x 3.5ft.
It is about as loud as a grand piano, so typically no amplification is needed, but it can be arranged with the venue or host if needed.
Due to its large size, it must be carted around on a dolly (wheels) and therefore, anywhere the harp is taken must be able to be carted to, or ADA accessible. If there are stairs, a few small and stable steps are possible to get up, but very steep and narrow stairs would not be possible. A ladder would not be possible.
There must be a paved and stable surface to cart the harp to its place for the event; surfaces such as gravel, dirt, mud, patchy grass, or any other uneven terrain is not suitable.

The harp is very sensitive to weather events and therefore, any outdoor events must have a backup plan or alternative policy in place in the events of: Rain, Snow, Ice, or Excessive temperatures below 50 and above 80 degrees.
Direct sunlight during hot weather must be kept to a minimum to protect the varnish of the instrument.

  • I run my business on genuine passion for the art and the belief that it helps improve people’s livelihoods and wellness.

I am honest, respectful, grateful, and collaborative.

If any songs or specific music choices are requested for your event, I will personally record audio samples for you in advance to guarantee that the musical arrangement is acceptable and to your best liking.

I am a great improviser and can work reasonably within unpredictable circumstances.

  • Harps are an ancient type of instrument that have been with humanity for thousands of years. They are mentioned in sacred texts like the Bible, the Quran, and Greek and Roman mythology.

They have a familiar and yet ethereal vibration that most people find extremely grounding, soothing, and pleasant. Throughout history, most castles and monarchs had resident harpists who regularly filled their spaces with music.

The sound and aesthetic of the harp instantly enhance any setting or event with timeless class.

  • Yes! I currently teach 4 students and have the capacity to take on a few more.

My rates for lessons are $1 per minute of instruction. (i.e; $45 = 45 Mins; etc.)

Lessons are conducted at the student’s home on their own instrument. (I travel directly to you for your lesson).

Students must have their own instrument to practice and develop on. I can help with finding an instrument to acquire for anyone who is interested in starting but not sure how or where to begin!

Please contact me at harpnwa@gmail.com for more info about lessons.
